New plates were introduced in Punjab in 2006.

Normal series 1947-2006. Black on white = Commercial, public service vehicles and taxis. RI = Rawalpindi.

There was also a second rear plate with all Urdu characters.

Normal series in Karachi 1947-77. Black on white = Commercial, public service vehicles and taxis. KARACHI = Karachi. This is the same lorry as the above with repainted plates.
